We offer you a single-message and subscription SMS (short messaging service)/text message service related to your statements, tax receipts, and beneficiary information. 

By providing your telephone number and opting in to the service, you:

• Represent that you are the owner or authorized user of the wireless device used to receive a one-time SMS message from Manulife John Hancock and authorized to approve the applicable message and data rates.
• Consent to receive text messages sent to your mobile phone even if your telephone number is on a company, state, or national do not call registry.
• May opt out or stop receiving messages at any time (send STOP).
• Acknowledge that consent to receive text messages is not a condition to purchase any goods or services.
• Understand that while Manulife John Hancock does not charge for this service, your wireless carrier’s standard messaging rates apply to SMS correspondence.  You remain responsible for any charges, including, but not limited to, fees associated with text messaging imposed by your wireless carrier.  Contact your wireless carrier for information about your messaging plan.

We may modify or terminate our SMS/text messaging services from time to time, for any reason and without notice, including the right to terminate SMS/text messaging without notice, without liability to you or a third party.  We make no representations or warranties whatsoever regarding SMS/text messages or this service, which is provided on an as-is and as-available basis, without express or implied warranties of any kind.

What are SMS services?

A one-time message is texted directly to your mobile phone. You can select the type of text message you want to receive, including:

• Participant statements
• Tax receipts
• Beneficiary information

Is there a charge for SMS services?

We don’t charge you to send a one-time text, but wireless carrier message and data rates may apply depending on your wireless plan. Check with your wireless carrier directly for details.

How often do you send messages?

If applicable to your call inquiry and you give us permission, we’ll send you a one-time text message related to your inquiry. You can request a text message on every incoming call you make related to specific topics. We send all text messages from a 10-digit phone number.

What mobile carriers are supported?

We can send SMS messages to the major wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Metro PCS, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, Nextel, Virgin Mobile, Boost Mobile, and any affiliated name of these companies.
